Jazzland Remixed Volume 2.
Jazzland/Universal 2002

Welcome to the phenomenon of Jazzland....Norway's (lets just call it the world's) leading light for all things filed under "future jazz" anno 2002.

This time round the Jazzland stable present a defining collection of exclusive tracks and remixes forged from the hot pot of talent, the crčme de la męme of Scandinavian electronics & jazz... a journey into the ever pulsating Jazzland repertoire - with its dynamic roster of pioneering artists.

Illumination, Café del Mar favourites, under their well-known "Chilluminati" remix guise headline the proceedings with a superb trademark reworking of Jazzland guitarist extraordinaire Eivind Aarset ("Empathic guitar"). They get deep with another blueprint mix of Jazzland keyboard maestro Bugge Wesseltoft ("Change") and provide future jazz pop-tastic possibilities to Sidsel Endresen &Bugge Wesseltoft ("Try")...

Next in line, Rune Linbćk - famed for his countless vinyl outings as "Those Norwegians" (Paper Records) takes the disco biscuit treatment to Real World/ Jazzland legend Mari Boine ("Gulan Du"), and further bass bumping nightlife attitude to Jazzland´s much-lauded name to watch Beady Belle ("Ghosts")

Delving deep into the "Grünerlökka" scene of genre twisting electronica, Phono (aka tech trickster Raymond Pellicier from the Nils Petter Molvćr live band) gives Jazzland first lady Sidsel Endresen the electronic makeover ("Undertow") Fellow Norwegian Sternklang lends his freestyle machinations to Jazzland off-beat instrumentalists Wibutee ("First there was jazz #2") and to top things off Beady Belle deliver an exclusive soulful nujazz workout ("Moderation") as a taste of things to come…

Jazzland "future jazz", fresh out of Oslo, daring (and raring) to go where others can only dream. File under: Must Have. Making Waves…
